リベリアル(移動式地獄)2005?-XX-XX
Re:Belial [Aliases: Re:belial, re:Belial] (Idoushiki Jigoku)
Story
Aiji is a student who lives alone. One day, a dying incubus named Kirito appears from the drawer of Aiji’s desk. Kirito transforms from a male form into a busty woman and revives after obtaining Aiji’s semen. Kirito asks to stay at Aiji’s house and have sex with Aiji until their magical powers return. Thus begins the strange cohabitation between Aiji and a demon.
About This Game
The game files were last modified on March 7, 2005, suggesting that the game was distributed in March 2005, although this cannot be confirmed, as no release date is given in the readme or other documentation. The circle that distributed the game, 移動式地獄 (Idōshiki Jigoku), is the personal circle of 眼帯博士 (Gantai Hakase). From 2006 onward, the creator is known to have been active under the circle name 刀豆ギセル (Natamame Giseru) until at least 2014. It is unknown whether an official website existed, and no link to one has been found.
Impressions
Kirito, the incubus, can freely change sex, so the game also has some boys' love elements.
Kirito is so cute in the little things they do while innocently enjoying life with the protagonist that I gradually grew attached to them. For example, Kirito thinks the sea is as flat as a puddle and tries to walk off into the distance, only to sink and sulk, or gets excited when the protagonist buys them a tokusatsu candy toy they like.
The protagonist gradually realizes how important Kirito has become to him, as Kirito cooks for him and he finds himself getting jealous of Kirito's sexually promiscuous behavior.
The structure of meeting, parting, and then meeting again is a classic narrative device, but it feels satisfying.
The opening exchange serves as a misdirection, and when it becomes clear toward the end who is chasing whom, the revelation comes as a real surprise.
The protagonist's friend and an enemy character have names pronounced the same way and similar character sprites, so I wondered whether they were related in some way, but it turned out there was no particular connection between them. The characters' names are taken from the members of the visual kei rock band PIERROT, so I suspect the creator gave the friend character a name from the band as well because assigning a real person's name only to an enemy character might have been disrespectful and could have given that band member a negative association.
